VE Explorer Glass

VE paddles have always been manufactured in the UK, and the Explorer Glass Paddle is no exception. Glass blades provide a nice combination of strength vs weight at a cheaper price-point over full carbon blades. The blade shape on these paddles is best suited for high-angle paddlers looking for a powerful paddle that can be used on coastal alongside inland waters. The dihedral blade face, combines with a slightly down-turned blade provides a nice catch and power when required.

AThe Explorer Glass sits on a 2-part paddle shaft, which not only can be adjusted to various feathers to suit the paddling styler, it can also be adjusted in length to suit the conditions and paddlers individual requirements. The shaft has a slight squash on either side, so it fits comfortably in the hand, and is available in either carbon-fibre or glass-fibre. The locking device on the shaft, is an alloy clamp which has proven strong and reliable throughout the VE range. The glass shaft provides slightly more flex, and is kinder on the joints, whereas the carbon shaft is very stiff, and transfers more power through the stroke for higher performance.

There are three blade sizes available on the VE Explorer paddle. The Small (615cm sq) is best suited for junior and smaller paddlers, looking for a fast stoke rate and less fatigue over distance. The Standard (mid) sized blade size is by far the most popular (650cm sq), and a great all-round paddle suitable for most users. The Explorer is also available with a large (685cm sq) blade for powerful paddlers wanting instant acceleration, and the ability to crank up the power when required.
