Designed primarily for playboating and freestyle, the Sidekick blade shape is slightly ‘down-turned’ which gives a more immediate level of control whilst changing direction.

 

This translates to faster turns, and changes of direction- both attributes needed for playboating, surfing and setting up freestyle moves.

 

However, river runners looking for these features, and a slightly larger blade surface area than the Powerhouse are taking up the Sidekick as their go-to paddle for running big rapids and steep white water.

 

On the water, the Sidekick generates a substantial amount of power, especially in the hands of stronger paddlers. For those wanting the same blade shape, but with less surface area look at the Werner Player. The Player will provide more forgiveness for miss-timed strokes and a faster stroke rate than the Sidekicks.
