Old Town Heron 11 XT
The user-friendly Old Town Heron 11 has a spacious cockpit facilitating easy entry and exit, and its hull design offers stability that inspires confidence when afloat. If you want to paddle a sit-in kayak without feeling confined, the Heron 11XT is a great choice; whether you're paddling out for the day, or a quick after-work paddle, the Heron 11XT's padded Comfort Flex seat offers excellent back support and lots of adjustability. Behind the cockpit, there are two flush mount rod holders that are easily accessible on either side, for anyone wanting to take a fishing rod along for the ride.
With plenty of extra storage space available, the rear Quick-Seal hatch is a welcome feature for those who wish to pack extra gear e.g., sandwiches and a flask. Additionally, a watertight bulkhead divides the storage area from the main cockpit area. This forms a sealed -off area to keep the compartment from flooding, acting as a large buoyancy chamber should water get into the cockpit area. For those paddlers of varying leg lengths, the Heron kayaks have easily adjustable pedal footrests to provide support, comfort and promoting a nice paddling position.
Compared to the smaller Old Town Heron 9XT, the Old Town Heron 11XT has a longer waterline length, more carrying capacity, and more storage space. The 11XT is an easy kayak to handle both on and off the water, despite its 11-foot length, and a fantastic option if you're a recreational paddler searching for a comfortable kayak that can go that extra distance without getting too long, heavy and unwieldly.
