Quessy Ash/Cherry Beavertail

Canoeists looking for a bit more out of their paddle will be looking for nice wooden layups during the construction process. The Beavertail from Quessy stays true to a traditional Beavertail paddle shape, and manufacturers them using a laminate of Cherry and Ash wood. Ash is strong and some elasticity (flex) whereas Cherry wood is slightly heavier, but much stronger.

The beaver-tail blade shape is well suited for deeper water- slow moving rivers, lakes and sea lochs. What sets the beavertail aside from other popular deep-water blade shapes (Ottertails), is it is a bit shorter allowing for use in shallower water conditions, and having a slightly wider face allows for more power and a slower stoke rate.
