Many paddlers like to carry a bilge pump every time they go out, especially on open water. This lightweight, floating pump from Riot Kayaks is easily stowed away and simple to use when needed. Bilge pumps can be used in kayak self-rescues to quickly empty the cockpit area after re-entry. Some open canoeists also prefer to use a bilge pump instead of, or in conjunction with a bailer to remove water quickly from a swamped canoe.
