Viking Reload
From New Zealand kayak manufacturers Viking, comes the fastest and highest spec. kayak from their fleet. Designed primarily for saltwater anglers, the Profish Reload is just shy of 15ft, making it a true ocean-going fishing kayak, perfect for UK kayak anglers. The Viking Reload is well capable of covering long distances and copes well with ocean swell and surf launches thanks to its nicely flared bow. The Reload is also designed to be ‘low slung’, meaning a shallow draught furthering its ability to cope with offshore conditions and have fewer problems with crosswinds than higher sided kayaks.
In 2024, the Viking Kayaks Profish Reload mould was re-commissioned, and although kept true to the original Reload hull shape, it now has improved side-carry handles, refined detailing, and a larger transducer scupper-mount to accommodate the latest generation of side-image fish-finder transducers.
Features wise, the Profish Reload has some well thought out onboard ideas that should appeal to every kayak angler. Starting with the removable Tackle Pod- this allows easy installation of fish-finder/transducer systems, without having to drill through or glue anything inside the kayaks hull. Once installed, this Tackle Pod can be easily removed from the kayak, making it extremely convenient when transporting or storing the boat.
Other great features include 6x flush mounted rod holders and 3x twist-lock storage hatches (these hatches double up as baitwells if required). Situated at the front is a large storage hatch that can easily accommodate most collapsible trolleys/carts and rods. Several factory fitted Railblaza Starport HD mounts, allow additional accessories to be added if required. Another nice touch are the M5 brass inserts located along either side of the Reload. These allow the simple addition of an anchor trolley kit, for those fishermen wanting to add an anchoring option to the Reload. Popular accessories that don’t come supplied with the Profish Reload are a Deluxe Serat/Backrest, a Chill-Pod designed for the rear tank-well and a rudder kit to help out on windier days.
