As is so iconic on the canoes from Swift, the Wabakimi 18 has a great deal of tumble-home which allows it to "shrug off" wind and rougher water with smaller waves rolling under the hull. These tucked gunnels also allow for more powerful efficient paddle strokes without needing to reach over the gunwale, ideal for those paddling sit and switch, but also effective for traditional paddlers alike. The stern of the Wabakimi is unique in that it features an S-shaped gunwale profile, similar to that on the Cruiser's, to allow for an easier paddle entry more positive paddle stroke and greater control for steering.

Swift use industry leading composite materials including their most popular laminate Kevlar Fusion, which offers the best strength-to-weight ratio. This means it remains lightweight enough for portaging, or car topping.
