Islander Calypso
A user friendly sit-on-top designed for day trips and long adventures, the Islander Calypso with its mould-in foot-brace comes complete with a fully adjustable backrest. The numerous positions across the footplate system means that this is truly a family kayak suitable to be paddled by adults and children alike..
A flat stable surface throughout the Calypso makes this a great entry kayak for flat water paddling be that on the coast, on lakes or canals. A more aggressively V-shaped keel at the bow helps its surfing pedigree on smaller wakes and also to build speed as it cuts through the water. This keel also helps to maintain tracking and keep the kayak moving in a straight line.
Moulded carry handles on either side make this 9.5ft easy to manoeuvre off the water its relative light weight making it easy to lift and load onto a roof rack system, equally in a larger vehicle or van this boat could fit inside.
With two hatches across the boat; a 5" screw hatch with a liner and draw string to secure small personal items such as a phone, and a larger 10" rubber hatch at the bow to accommodate larger items you may also want to ensure remain dry like camping equipment or maybe a picnic, should water end up inside these hatches an easy to open drainage bung eases the escape of water. A rear tank well with elasticised webbing to secure offers even more storage area and a great place to put a dry bag with easy access from the seat position.
