Old Town Discovery Outfitter
Old Town Canoes offer their popular Discovery Series in an Outfitter specification. These canoes are designed with commercial users in mind, who require the toughest canoes available, combined with the minimum of maintenance over the years. These Discovery 158 and the larger 169 always prove a popular choice for rental fleets, outdoor activity centres, schools and Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions.
The Old Town Discovery’s combine tough triple-layer hulls with durable vinyl gunwales and end plates with built-in carry handles. Fitted with with bow and stern blow-moulded plastic seats for additional durability. A varnished carrying yoke and thwart provide the hull with extra strength and rigidity. These hull designs have been in service for over 30 years, and those that have experienced them know how predictable and stable they are on the water. From total beginners, right through to experienced paddlers, the 158 and 169 both perform well and have been designed for their ease of use, rather than on-water high performance.
There are several seating configurations on offer, so the canoes can be tailored for each setting and able to cater for different user groups. The Outfitter spec. comes supplied with 2x plastic seats. These plastic seats can have moulded seat-backs fitted (sold separately) for paddlers in the sitting position who prefer extra back support. A 3rd removable seat (snap-in) can be added to either model to provide flexibility for the number of paddlers when required. For provider’s who would prefer traditional wood-web seats in their fleet, the Old Town Discovery Standard Spec is also available. Old Town Discovery 158 STD and Old Town Discovery 169 STD

The Old Town Snap-In Seat fits both the Discovery 158 and Discovery 169 models. It also fits most canoes with vinyl gunnels (34-37 inch wide).
A highly versatile water proof storage option. Barrels offer greater durability that dry bags and also protect the contents from any crushing. As well as being great for transporting kit when paddling they also double as kit storage at home, and being watertight are also ideal for transporting your wet kit home in the car. Please note- these barrels are brand new and first quality, not reconditioned or seconds.
