Old Town Canoes offer their popular Discovery Series (Discovery 158 and Discovery 169) in an Outfitter specification. These canoes are designed with commercial users in mind, who require the toughest canoes available, combined with minimum amount of maintenance over the years. These canoes, the Discovery 158 and the larger Discovery 169 always prove a popular choice for rental fleets, outdoor activity centres, schools and Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions.

The Old Town Discovery’s in the Outfitter Spec. combine tough triple-layer hulls with durable vinyl gunwales and end plates with built-in carry handles. Fitted with bow and stern blow-moulded plastic seats for additional durability. A varnished carrying yoke and thwart provide the hull with extra strength and rigidity (if purchasing a three seater option with the additional PE seat then please note that this replaces the carrying yoke). These hull designs have been in service for over 30 years, and those that have experienced them know how predictable and stable they are on the water. From total beginners, right through to experienced paddlers, both the Discovery 158 and Discovery 169 perform well and have been designed for their ease of use, rather than on-water high performance.

There are several seating configurations on offer, so the canoes can be tailored for each setting and able to cater for different user groups. The Outfitter Spec. Discoveries come supplied with 2x plastic seats. These plastic seats can have moulded seat-backs fitted (sold separately) for paddlers in the sitting position who prefer extra back support. A 3rd seat is also available in both boats, in the form of either fitted PE seat (fitted in the centre in place of the yoke), or as a removable seat (snap-in) which can be added to either model quickly and easily to provide flexibility for the number of paddlers when required.
