Dagger Axis 10.5 Elite
The Axis from Dagger Kayaks was designed to replace the popular Blackwater, and indeed it has done so. Incredibly well received, and has had many great reviews and feedback from paddlers since it was launched (pardon the pun). This boat is broad around the seating position which offers the paddler nice stability and also plenty of room to get in, making a comfortable boat for longer trips out on the water. Users, also the tall backrest, than can be raised easily, and also the leg lifters located at the front of the seat which provides additional support.
Storage solutions on the Axis come as a front-deck mesh panel that items you need close to hand whilst out on the water can be slid underneath within easy reach, such as maps, snacks or a windproof jacket for if the weather takes a turn. For larger items such as a trolley, picnic, or perhaps overnight camping kit for the more adventurous. The Axis has a watertight rear bulkhead compartment, which is surprisingly roomy and allows room for plenty of extra kit and acts as a safe buoyancy chamber should the paddler capsize and not roll back up again. (providing you remember to keep the hatch lid in place!)
Whilst it has a good waterline which offer great straight line tracking, it also has an ample amount of rocker making it easy to turn for a boat of this length. The spring-loaded retractable skeg system once deployed aids forward paddling, and makes it much easier to handle in windy conditions. Designed for use on both inland waterways and sheltered coastal waters, the Axis rides high through small swell and chop. Making it an ideal touring craft for exploring your local waterways and also further afield.
