Old Town Saranac
The Saranac 146 and Saranac 160 canoes have lots of on-board features fitted into an extremely stable hull. Not all canoeists wish to paddle their boat in the traditional kneeling style, the Saranac’s have been set up to be paddled sitting down with the added benefit of tall, padded, adjustable backrests. This gives comfort for inexperienced paddlers, but does prevent more advanced paddling strokes to be performed.
The Saranac hull shape is flat and slightly wider than most to provide maximum stability. A very reassuring feature for canoeists with less experience or just starting out in the sport. The hull also has ‘tracking grooves’ running the length of the hull, assisting the paddler to keep the canoe in a straight line whilst paddling across the water.
The 146 is slightly smaller, nimble and lighter than the 160, but the larger 160 has a higher overall carrying capacity. Both provide a great option for families, beginners, anglers or casual canoeists looking for a recreational canoe that performs well on the water.
