Hobie Kayaks Anchor Trolley System

Many kayak anglers at some point will need to hold their position using an anchor or drift chute. To safely operate either system, the anchor/chute line will need to be held at either the bow or stern of the kayak to keep it in-line with the wind or tidal direction. To achieve this, the most common method is to employ an anchor trolley system that runs along the side of the kayak.

Hobie Kayaks have produced a ready-made kit that can be retrofitted onto any existing Hobie Kayak (excluding I-Series!), and can also be fitted to other makes/models of angling kayak (up to 16ft in length). Available as two different kits that include easy to follow fitting instructions, and all the kit needed to install the line and pulleys onto your Hobie Kayak. Unless your kayak is ‘anchor ready’ and has moulded in threaded inserts already present, you will need to drill through the kayaks hull at either end to fit an anchor trolley system.

The first kit is known as the Universal or Well-Nut Kit (72020273) and is used where access to the kayaks bow and stern interiors is impossible to reach. This will fit on all Hobie Kayak models, including Outback, Passport and Compass.

The second kit (Through-Bolt 72020073) is designed to be used with ‘anchor ready’ Hobie Pro Angler models, and also kayaks where there is easy access to the interiors of both the bow and stern areas. This is so nuts can be fitted to the bolts on the inside of the kayak during the installation process.
