Viking Profish 35
The Profish 35 from Viking Kayaks has been fully manufactured and designed to fish NZ waters. This translates really well to the UK style of kayak fishing, with many paddlers wanting to access the sea as well as inland waters. Constructed from HDPE rotomoulded polyethylene, the Profish 35 is incredibly strong and durable for fishing rocky shorelines, combined with the stable hull shape and flared bow equates to this kayak being a very capable sea fishing kayak. At 11ft in length and only 24kg in weight it is light enough for most people to carry/lift by themselves and also nimble enough to be manoeuvrable around tight inlets or along reed margins.
The 35 has many of Viking Kayaks standard angling features such as central storage hatch, bait board, flush mounted rod holders etc. Viking also team up with another great NZ company- Railblaza, and the 35 comes already fitted with 2x Railblaza Starport HD's so additional rod holders, a fish finder or camera mount can easily be fitted without the need for drilling holes into your new kayak.
Viking give the kayak a 160kg max. recommended weight capacity, and combined with the low seating position provides loads of stability, even in choppy waters. We would recommend the addition of a seat/backrest for longer fishing sessions, as the more comfortable the paddler is, the more time they will be spent out on the water enjoying themselves!
Overall the Profish 35 is a popular choice for those coming into the sport and wanting a high quality kayak, with plenty of well thought-out features already fitted on a relatively lightweight hull with the scope for customising and adding extras as needed.
